Sing You Like a Bee

The Polish
BC: None
Color: Nicole by OPI - Sing You Like a Bee, two coats
TC: American Classics - Gelous followed by one coat of Seche Vite

Mmm... this one again... :/ Why would I ever wear this instead of White Cap? It's still a bit textured, even with two top coats, so the only answer I can come up with is, "If I'm out of White Cap." I DO only have a smaller bottle of White Cap, but I don't wear it a ton. Is that one reason enough to keep this? *sigh* I can't make myself get rid of it yet. Back into the purgatory box to be decided upon later.

Wear: Removed on Day 6 with just a couple chips (Man, I forgot how much textures wear like armor!)

Moonlit Waves

The Polish
BC: Nailtiques - Formula 2
Color: Rain City Lacquer - Moonlit Waves, two coats
TC: Seche Vite

It took me forever to decide what to wear today for the first mani of 2017. Nothing seemed right. I went through a number of different combination ideas and actually put one on, top coat and all, before taking it off and purging one of the polishes.

Anyway, Moonlit Waves! Only two coats today, so you can see how sheer it is, but it's also squishy, so it's fine. I may try to layer it over a similar blue creme (maybe Bikini So Teeny?) at some point, but it's fine like this for today.

Wear: Removed on Day 4 after picking at a few of the glitters

Autumn Spice

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Color: Revlon - Autumn Spice (Parfumerie line), two coats
TC: Seche Vite

Autumn Spice is a red-leaning brown with copper sparkle. It's been floating around my local swap group for a couple years, and I've been admiring it. I always said I couldn't do browns, but lately I've been getting more adventurous, especially with stuff I can try for free.

Nope. Turns out it's still not my thing. I thought it made my hands look like old lady hands. Still a fine color for clothes, but not on my nails. Back into the swap pile for you.

Wear: Removed on Day 3 with tip wear

Kismet Bikini

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Main: Essie - Bikini So Teeny, three coats
Accent: Color Club - Kismet, two coats
TC: Seche Vite

Apparently I have a thing with this color combination, hah. What can I say? They just seem to pair themselves while I'm choosing! :3 Aaaaand.. I know the picture below is definitely more in focus, but the one above is just better, okay? So it gets to be the first picture, the end. :P

Wear: Removed on Day 4 with a couple of chips

Challenger

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Color: Different Dimension - Challenger, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

A multichrome today, so apologies in advance for many pictures.

Challenger, which is from a set all named for spacecraft!, is a green/gold-to-red/purple-to-brown multichrome with holo glitter and glass flecks. How's that for a description?

I can't quite decide if I like it or not. It's not really a color I would normally pick up, but it IS pretty.. The red/purple isn't very apparent in most lights. Most of the time it just appears to be a glittery dark brown.

But maybe it looks a little messy? We'll keep it on for a while and see what I think.

Hey~! I finally got the green to show in the car! You can see some glass flecks in this one, too.

Wear: Removed on Day 2 with the decision... to purge. Honestly, I probably would have preferred it without the glitter, just as a multichrome creme. *shrug* Hopefully someone else will like it.

Curious, Yellow Misfits

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Main: Literary Lacquers - Curious Yellow, two coats
Glitter: Native War Paints - We're All Misfits, one coat
TC: Seche Vite

Uh.. yellow, huh? Yep, that's definitely yellow. Nearly a gold, too. You really ARE just trying everything now, aren't you, Holly? Well, alright then.

Neither of these polishes really seem like me, do they? We're All Misfits is pretty close, though. It's a nice, sparse glitter, just a splash of festive color. I bet it would make any creme pop, and it even does great over this shimmer. I could have used more coats to make the glitter more apparent, but this sparse look is super cute.

Curious Yellow is the shimmery, yellow-gold version of those nice white-silvers I enjoy so much. It's a little bold, but ALMOST a soft, gentle. It's really great for summer, but I think it goes back to the swap. Here's a shot of it by itself. It dried to a satiny matte, which was rather nice.

Wear: Some lifting on Day 4, removed on Day 5. (Longer than I expected to wear this, for sure, but life.)

White Cap

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Color: China Glaze - White Cap, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

Aaaah.. that's nice. A soft, gentle shimmer. Love. <3

Unrelated story: I was going to do my nails Monday evening, but my husband and I got back too late from dinner with his parents. He didn't want to go to bed yet, so he tried to encourage me to stay up with him by doing my nails, anyway.

Me: No, if I do nails right before bed, I'll get sheet marks.
Him: That's okay. Maybe it'll be the new thing.
Me: What? No, it's already a thing, and not a good thing.
Him: That's just because you haven't made it a fad yet. "Sheet nails." You can say, "These nails are the sheet!" and "Ahhh, sheet. This is mah sheet right here!" Think of how trendy you'll be.
Me: Hmm.. I'll consider it.

Wear: Some lifting on Day 4, removed on Day 6

Amazeballz Bikini

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Main: Essie - Bikini So Teeny, three coats
Accent: Lacquistry - Amazeballz!, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

I think this is maybe the third time I've worn Bikini So Teeny recently. It's just such a cute summer color! Amazeballz, on the other hand, which got a lot of love on the MUA Nail Board... isn't really my thing. I guess because it's gold? I just much prefer silver. Why isn't there a silver version? That's okay; Mirrorball and other scattered holos work way better as an accent, anyway!

SO: *takes my hand while talking about something, then looks down and stops mid-sentence* HOLY CRAP! Now THAT is an accent nail! *tilts my hand back and forth to catch the light and makes some sort of sci-fi sound effect noises before going back to what he was talking about*

...guess HE liked it, at least. :3

Wear: Removed on Day 6. BST started chipping on Day 5, Amazeballz! started lifting on Day 6.

Rococo Grandeur

The Polish
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Color: Hare Polish - Rococo Grandeur, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

My Easter color for this year, Rococo Grandeur is a reliably adorable color. It's such a cute pastel blue with pink and gold glitters (even squares!) I love it every time I see it.

My bottle, however, seems to be getting a little... clumpy. You can't tell from the pictures, but this polish was fighting me. I'm not sure thinning it will fix it, but I guess I'll have to try. :/

Wear: Chips in under 24 hours, removed on Day 2 with more lifting

Tomoko

The Polish:
BC: None
Color: Zoya - Tomoko, two coats
TC: None

Tomoko is a super sparkly gold texture, and I don't know why I'm not feeling it this time around because it's usually one of my favorite texture polishes. Maybe it's because I just wore Sing You Like a Bee recently? Or maybe because I have a lot of new untried indies that are calling my name. Meh, anyway, it's fine. I had to put something on quick for a couple of days because I didn't have time for a full mani, and Tomoko worked just fine.

Wear: Removed on Day 3 with little noticeable wear

Sing You Like a Bee

The Polish:
BC: None
Color: Nicole by OPI - Sing You Like a Bee, two coats
TC: None

I still just can't tell if I like this polish enough yet. It's like a textured version of White Cap, which is one of my favorites, but.. somehow just not quite as good. I don't know. Next time I wear it, I think I'll try it with a top coat. One of the reasons why I love White Cap is because it just seems so simple and glossy and perfect. This somehow doesn't. Maybe with a top coat, I can get it to feel that way.

SO comments, noticed while out to eat on Friday night
SO: Hmm. Gold sparkles, huh?
Me: Yeah. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's cute, but it just doesn't seem enough.
SO: Yeah. It matches your skin color, so it's a good thing it's sparkly. Otherwise, it'd just seem like your regular skin. In which case, it'd be like, what's the point?
Me: Yeah. They call that "My Nails But Better"-- MNBB.
SO: ... Of course they'd have a term for that.
Me: *giggle*

Wear: Removed on Day 5, some chipping on Day 4

Mammoth Kismet

The Polish:
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Main: Color Club - Kismet, three coats
Accent: SuperChic Lacquer - Mammoth, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

I'm a bit backed up on NOTDs, so even though I'm posting this on the 28th, these are my Christmas nails for this year! Gold holo and grey, snowy glitter!

Mammoth is sooo underrated. It's an absolutely gorgeous mix of silver, gold, and iridescent glitters in a grey crelly base. I love it so much!

Wear: Slight lifting at the end of Day 3, but I managed to make it to Day 5 without pulling off

Eggnogoholic

The Polish:
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Color: Girly Bits - Eggnogoholic, three coats with matte before the third
Matte: China Glaze - Matte Magic, before the third coat
TC: Seche Vite

Ugh, again with this streaky mess? Okay, to be fair, it definitely looks better than the last time I wore this polish, but still, Eggnogoholic just doesn't live up to the ideal form of itself. In an attempt to counteract the steakyness, I used a matte coat before the final coat of polish to level everything out, but it only helped a little.

I COULD put this polish into purgatory and wear it again over a pure white... but I feel like two chances is all something really needs. If I don't love it, it needs to go. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! Straight into the purge box with you.

Wear: Light lifting on Day 3, removed immediately

Boris & Nicole

The Polish:
BC: CND - Stickey
Color: Julep - Boris & Nicole, two coats
TC: Seche Vite

Well, this color was a surprise! Not really a good one, but definitely a surprise, nevertheless. In the bottle, Boris & Nicole looks like a shimmery brown. I'm not really one for those sorts of colors, but a friend pushed it into my hands, telling me that it's the PERFECT fall color and that I HAD to have it. Well, alright then..!

So imagine my shock when the first coat applied incredibly RED. Not just reddish, like Cosmic Fates, but completely, undeniably RED. At two coats, the color deepened, and the gold shimmer added to the depth nicely.. but it's still super red...

Inside, sometimes it looks like that red-leaning brown shimmer I expected, but then I move under the light again and remember that nope, it's actually red.

Wear: Some tipwear on Day 3, chips and slight lifting on Day 4

Interstellar Space

The Polish:
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Color: Orly - Interstellar Space, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

I've passed this polish up so many times. When it first came out, I was interested. The whole Galaxy FX collection seemed very indies-inspired. Seeing them in the store though.. they just weren't quite the type of polishes I would wear. So I avoided them when they first came out. And again when they went on sale. And again when I've seen them on blog sales. But when Interstellar Space appeared at a local swap, I decided, what the heck? and went for it. Turns out I'll try most things if I can do it for free!

And I'm so glad I did. It's actually super adorable. Very much like something Hare Polish would put out, indeed! The base is rather sheer, but it builds nicely, at least in person. In pictures, it seems like it could use some undies. That blue and green shimmer is just the prettiest thing and mixes so well with the dark base and purple and gold glitters.

I'm back to taking pictures inside again.. Boo! I hate not having a good time available to do my nails and take pictures during the daylight hours of the week. :( Plus, this time I got a little carried away on some of my clipping... oops! Regardless, Interstellar Space is a gorgeous first-fall-mani-of-the-year. <3

Wear: Chips on day three, boo.. :/

Blue Eyed Kismet

The Polish:
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Main: Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer - PDTS 3.7 (prototype), two coats
Accent: Color Club - Kismet, three coats
TC: Seche Vite

Oh my goodness, you guys, I NEEDED some holo in my life. This shiny shiny makes me so happy. *sigh* I kind of wanted to do holo skittles, but I didn't trust the few holos that I have to go well together. So I settled on an accent nail. As it is, the Color Club is WAY more holo than the soft, delicate blue of the BEGL, which kinda throws me, but whatever. I need to get more Halo Hues...

Wear: Five days, small chips at four.

Moonlit Waves

The Polish:
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Main: Rain City Lacquer - Moonlit Waves, two coats
TC: Seche Vite

Moonlit Waves is suuuuch a pretty. Gold and silver hexes and squares in the perfect blue jelly.

So sparkly!

I normally have trouble with tip wear on this one because I always forget to wrap my tips, and it starts to show after a day or two. But this time I remembered to wrap my tips, yay!

Wear: Four days, peels at three, unfortunately

Sing You Like a Bee

The Polish:
BC: None
Color: Nicole by OPI - Sing You Like a Bee, three coats
TC: None

Oh man, this one has been on my wish list since it came out! I finally found it at TJ Maxx.

White Cap's textured sister, Sing You Like a Bee is definitely more gold shimmer than the white it appears in the bottle. It's also a little sheer and patchy. I needed three coats to make it look nice.

I wasn't sure if I would actually enjoy it when I put it on. It wasn't as bad as I Lilac Gumdrops, but.. well, gold, you know? But the shimmer really is cute, so I decided to keep it.

It was also difficult to get a good picture of the color, so here are five good attempts instead! I know that's more than I normally have per post, but oh well.

Wear: Removed on day five with minimal wear

CC Kismet

The Polish:
BC: Revlon - ColorStay Base Coat
Polish: Color Club - Kismet, two coats
TC: Seche Vite

Kismet is a gorgeous green-leaning gold with a strong linear holo. The formula is just right with perfect consistency, though in normal/dim lighting, it appears a little patchy, like two coats isn't enough. It's pretty similar to the Urban Outfitters holo I have, and I think I remember someone saying once that they may be made by the same company.

I'd been hearing for the longest time about how Color Club holos are the best holos, so when I got a swap offer from someone with Kismet, I didn't hesitate to get it. Gold isn't typically my color, but it's such a great polish that that doesn't even matter.

Wear: Five days, chips on four
